Careers Information

Giss a job!

This short programme, delivered jointly by the Department and the University Careers Service will offer guidance on identifying and marketing your skills, the preparation and layout of an Action Plan and Curriculum Vitae and the ways in which you can capitalise on that all-important interview.

These sessions will be supplemented by visits of employment agencies who will conduct interviews for posts and give information on the current state of the job market.

Participation in the programme is voluntary, but you will obviously be aware of the emphasis which prospective employers now place on qualities such as effective communication skills and assertiveness.

University Careers Service

The University Careers Advisory Service, situated on the main campus, offers advice, information and practical help on preparing for the job market. The Service also provides a careers library open to all students.

Careers Notice-Board

The Department maintains a current awareness service comprising: information on courses and posts, job advertisements and vacancies sheets. This information is made available to students on the Careers Notice-board, situated on the first floor of the DIS academic block.
