Scholarships & Bursaries

It’s a great way of securing some extra cash to help towards your study and living costs and being awarded a scholarship/bursary is a great addition to your CV.

Where a scholarship or bursary has been awarded, payments are made through Aber Aspire. Students will receive an email notification from Aber Aspire when their funds are ready to access, along with guidance on how to withdraw them. The first payment will be made at the end of the first full week in December, and the second will be made at the end of the first full week in March.

The money you receive from our scholarships and bursaries does not have to be repaid as long as you comply with the terms and conditions of the award. *

*If a student permanently withdraws from their studies before 1 December, the entire first instalment of any award will be reclaimed by the Finance Department. If a student permanently withdraws from their studies between 1 December and 2 March, the entire second instalment of any award will be reclaimed by the Finance Department. Failure to repay any award in such an instance could result in a referral to the University’s debt collection agency.

Some of our scholarships and bursaries require you to complete an application form, however, there are some that you will be automatically considered for, subject to the conditions of the award.

Yes, your scholarship/bursary will still be awarded to you even if you defer your entry.

Please note that students deferring their entry will be entitled to receive scholarships/bursaries at the level publicised for the year of application (rather than the year of entry in the case of deferred applications).

AberWorks

Opportunities for part-time, casual work through AberWorks range from catering and administrative work to ambassador roles and more. During term-time, if work is available, you may choose to work up to 15 hours per week, with more hours possible during vacation periods. Work could be based on any of the University’s campuses including the Old College and our Farms. What’s great about the scheme is that you can accept work that fits around your schedule, so that you’re not disrupting your studies but are still gaining experience, and additional cash that you may need.

The Advice and Money Service

The Advice and Money Service within Student Support Services provides specialist advice on a range of money matters. Our NASMA (National Association of Student Money Advisers) accredited student advisers will be able to make sure that you are receiving everything you are entitled to from your funding body. They can also give you advice on how to manage your money more effectively and may be able to offer financial assistance for unforeseen circumstances.
