Emily Price Scholarship Terms and Conditions

  1. The Emily Price Scholarship is available to a female undergraduate student starting Part 1 of an honours degree to study Mathematics, Physics, or a joint-honours degree in Mathematics/Physics.
  2. Applicants must apply to Aberystwyth University via UCAS by the January deadline and must hold an eligible course at Aberystwyth University as their Firm choice through UCAS in order to be considered.
  3. The Emily Price Scholarship is aimed at female students who can demonstrate academic promise and the passion for increasing the involvement of women in mathematics and/or physics; applicants are required to complete and submit the scholarship application form by 31st January in the year of entry to University.
  4. Applicants may be required to attend a short interview to discuss their application during an Applicant Visiting Day in February or March.
  5. The Awarding Panel will meet to decide upon the allocations in April; the decision of the Awarding Panel is final.
  6. The value of the Scholarship is £500. The Scholarship is for one year only. The payment will be made in two equal instalments direct to the recipient’s bank account.  The amounts will be: December: £250, March: £250.
  7. One Scholarship is available annually.
  8. Applicants must not have been a degree student previously at any higher education institution.
  9. The Scholarship may be held along with any other Aberystwyth University Scholarship or Bursary.
  10. The successful candidate will be expected to attend all lectures and attain and maintain a high level of academic performance and attendance, as determined by the Awarding Panel.
  11. The successful candidate may be required to work with a designated tutor, the University academic departments, and the Development and Alumni Relations Office to promote the Scholarship and the impact it has had on their studies.
  12. The Scholarship holder will be given the opportunity to be involved in either the Mathematics and/or Physics Departments outreach activities within schools and the local community; and activities that aim to increase the involvement of women in mathematics and/or physics.
  13. The Scholarship holder will be required to maintain regular contact with their nominated personal tutor to ensure they are progressing to the best of their ability.
  14. Failure to meet any of the above requirements will result in the Scholarship being withdrawn.
