Work schedules (working patterns)
A working schedule shows how your contractual hours are split across the days of your working week.
The standard working week for a full-time member of staff is 36.5 hours (exclusive of all lunch and coffee breaks) with a working pattern of, Monday to Thursday, 9.00 am to 17:00 pm and Friday, 9.00 am to 16:00 pm.
Anything other than the standard working week can be accommodated in Pobl Aber People, though the same principles apply.
Pobl Aber People uses the working schedule to allocate any leave, bank holidays and closed days. If the work schedule is incorrect it may affect these calculations.
During the contractual period of employment, full-time and part-time staff have the same pro-rata entitlement of bank and closed days, e.g 0.5 FTE has a pro-rata annual leave entitlement.
When a Bank or closed day falls on a day when you would ordinarily be working (based upon your working schedule in Pobl Aber People), the hours you would have worked will be deducted from your entitlement.
The majority of bank holidays fall at the first part of the week, e.g Monday, Tuesdays, which may mean people who work part-time on these days, have more of their holiday automatically allocated.
When you look on Pobl Aber People, the work schedule allocated against your position will contain two elements:-
1) Weekly hours
2) The week day, hours and minutes allocated.
1) A full-time member of staff, working 36.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday will show as:
36.5 M 7:30 T 7:30 W 7:30 T 7:30 F 6:30 S 0:00 S 0:00
2) A part-time member of staff, working 11 hours a week, Tuesday and Wednesday will show as:
11 M 0:00 T 5:00 W 6:00 T 0:00 F 0:00 S 0:00 S 0:00

If you have Time Sheet:
Zero Patterns: some working arrangements are so irregular that they are best managed through specific arrangements within the department. Individuals with such arrangements will only be required to record sickness absences via Pobl Aber People.
Shift working: Pobl Aber People will assign you a default pattern based upon your contractual hours. Please contact your Human Resources team to confirm this.
Term-time only: most term-time only contracts assume that leave is taken outside of term-time. However, some individuals are on term time contracts and using Pobl Aber People for recording their holiday. In this instance, a default pattern will be assigned to you that reflects your most common working pattern. Please contact your Human Resources team if you need to confirm this.
Annualised Hours: Your HR Team will manually adjust your overall entitlement to reflect your specific contract and a default pattern will be assigned to you that reflects your most common working pattern. You will then be able to book annual leave using the system. Please contact your Human Resources team if you need to confirm this.
