Learning Outcomes
Typically on completion of this module a student will able to:
demonstrate an awareness of the creative and technical concepts and procedures involved in the production of television and film drama.
take responsible and creative individual roles within television productions.
originate, research, and collate ideas in order to create a script.
transform an idea on paper into a television production.
as individuals or in partnerships design, plan, direct and produce a short drama or non-factual television production
operate and use television production equipment safely, skilfully and creatively and take responsibility for others' safe working environment.

Discussion of some of the many ways to make an audio-visual product which will continue throughout the delivery of this module.

Camera operation - shooting techniques and styles
Location & studio lighting
Location sound recording
Digital picture editing
Track laying and dubbing
In this module students will be required to have a greater individual creative input and to take a much stronger directorial role than in previous modules. Throughout the course they will be expected to devise, produce and direct work that they have originated. On the completion of the module students will be required, either as individuals or as partnerships to plan, produce and direct an 8-12 minute non-factual or drama television production. Also in order that they learn and experience a wider range of production skills, such as working in teams, production design, production, camerawork, sound recording, acting, editing and sound design, students will be required to work on at least one or more other final student productions in support roles.
Each production will have a public screening at the end of Semester 2.
