On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate dramaturgical skills in the determining of creative outcome, and to conduct successful project design and application in the field of solo devised performance.
2. Engage in a range of production research activities to achieve defined and conceptualised creative outcome.
3. Conduct informed independent research and creative functioning lending to solo exposition.
4. Evaluate critically procedures of dramaturgy and staging in the creation of a personal performance aesthetic.
5. Review and evaluate critically their own performance practices and accept responsibility for determining and achieving personal, creative outcomes.
The specific aim of this module is to:
- Prsesent students with the opportunity for independent and autonomous creative practice and the advanced opportunity torealize and apply techniques for devising solo performance work.
- Enable students to conceive, design, organise and create a solo performance.
- Present students with the opportunity for advanced critical reflection on the process and presentation of self devised performance.
- Present students with the opportunity to conextualise their own work within contemporary performance practice in the public domain and practice based research in the academic domain.
This is an advanced production module resulting in the creation of a solo event of 30 minutes duration. It also offers the opportunity for students to both critically reflect upon and contextualise their chosen aesthetics within contemporary performance practice.
It is intended that the solo performance shall be an 'exit work' that may assist transition into both professional practice and further academic practice-based performance research.
