Learning Outcomes

After taking this module students should be able to:

  • apply the techniques acquired in PH15510 to the performance of basic experiments in Physics.

Brief description

This module is an extension of the Basic Laboratory Techniques in which the skills acquired during that module are applied to general laboratory physics experiments.

Content

Students choose from a number of experiments. These are divided into three blocks and students will be expected to undertake experiments in each of the blocks. At the end of each experiment, students will produce a formal report which will be marked and returned as quickly as possible to provide suitable feedback. The experiment blocks are shown below:

1. Basic Measurements
2. Fundamental constants and radioactivity. Electrical Measurements and using the Oscilloscope.
3. A selection of experiments in Physics.
