On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
* Demonstrate awareness of the key elements of Organisation Theory, their impact on the workplace and workforce, and its links with other disciplines of management;
* Analyse individual level influence on organisation behaviour;
* Investigate the importance of group dynamics as it affects teamwork, leadership and the recurrent attempts to secure the commitment of members to their organisations;
* Evaluate the importance of motivation in the study of organisations and appreciate the importance of control in management;
* Critically discuss the re-emergence and centrality of organisational structure in relation to strategy issues;
* Identify and assess the organisational effects of new technology and the importance of the management of change;
* Critically analyse the inter-disciplinary nature of Organisation Theory and the problems associated with its study.
The aim of the module is to build upon the foundations of management introduced to students in the first year of study, by developing an analytical and critical approach to key concepts and issues associated with the study of organisations.
Students will analyse established theories of the organisation, and explore current and critical thinking in organisational analysis, relating these to recent developments in the contemporary workplace. Throughout the module, theoretical concepts will be used to inform the examination of business practices, making appropriate use of business cases.

|Research skills||Students will have to prepare an individual report based on data and information that they will have to collect, have to arrange coherently in a written document all the relevant material gathered. Student will need to demonstrate their research skills in preparation for lectures and tutorials, as well as in their group exercises.|
|Subject Specific Skills||This module provides students with the opportunities to identify, analyse, evaluate and practice a series of skills with respect to Operations Management in real business.|
|Team work||Class exercises have been designed to ensure varied team work experiences. During the tutorial sessions the students will also be encouraged to participate in group discussions using case studies.|
