Higher Education requires the mastery of a number of academic and transferable skills to deal with the demands and challenges offered by study at this level. Students in Higher Education are also required to work with increasing autonomy as they progress through the degree, necessitating the development of skills in self-reflection, action planning and reviewing. Personal and transferable skills are also required in workplace settings post-graduation. The aims of this module are therefore to increase students' awareness of the need for personal, transferable and academic skill development and to provide opportunities to develop such skills.
The purpose of this module is to provide an introduction to the key skills required in Higher Education to introduce students to the transferable skills required to succeed in both Higher Education and the workplace and to introduce students to the skills involved in self-reflection, action planning and reviewing.
