Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Develop and consolidate a systematic and coherent body of knowledge of the history of media in Wales and of contemporary debates about the media in Wales;
2. Understand, compare and evaluate theories about the historical development of the media in Wales and the nature of the contemporary media;
3. Apply your knowledge and understanding to an assessment of contemporary problems relating to the media in Wales.
Brief description
The subject matter of this module will be the emergence of the press, film and broadcasting in Wales since the nineteenth century. It will also examine the range of issues which confront those who seek to understand the nature and future development of the media in contemporary Wales. It draws on history and critical social theory to advance these ends.
