Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

1. Analyse the activities and performance of a place of employment.

2. Evaluate the knowledge and skills gained during a period of work experience.

3. Choose and apply appropriate management tools to a countryside project.

4. Use information technology including GIS to help record and display data and make appropriate management decisions.

5. Produce communications utilising appropriate media for different goals and audiences.

Brief description

The management of countryside sites and projects is complex and requires a broad range of attributes. This module provides the student with an opportunity to reflect on their experiences gained during a period of relevant countryside employment and builds on this by developing essential vocational skills in areas such as resource management, project planning, and site and workforce management. IT skills gained through earlier modules will be developed in relation to practical applications in the workplace and the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), an essential tool for many aspects of countryside management, will be introduced.
