Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Understand and evaluate the main principles underpinning early years legislation, policy and practice in partnership working
2. Critically reflect and evaluate on the need for partnership working in the early years setting
3.Develop the ability to work and communicate effectively with partners in early years settings
Brief description
Partnership working is central to the work of early years’ practitioners. This module will look at effective models for partnership working and why such methods are essential in the early years. Leadership skills to ensure successful partnership working will be reflected upon and interventions to develop these will be discussed. An opportunity to explore partnership working in practice will be given during the 50 hour placement.
Content
Lectures and seminars will be based on the following:
Partnership working
Working with other professionals (including recruitment)
Working with parents
Services and resources (including funding opportunities)
Accessing services
Best practice in working together
Leading partnership working (including theories of leadership)
Reflecting and evaluating partnership working
Weeks 9 and 10 – students will be undertake placements (50 hours in total). Throughout the seminar sessions, students will be supported on finding and organising placements.
