Brief description

This module aims to provide students with a detailed knowledge of the range of services available to young children and their families. It also aims to develop awareness of the impact of policy and social issues on provision.

Content

Lectures and seminars will be based on the following:

Lecture and seminar 2: History of early childhood provision and practice II
Lecture and seminar 3: Impact of legislation and polices on practice I
Lecture and seminar 4: Foundation Phase in Wales
Lecture and seminar 5: Local co-ordination of services
Lecture and seminar 6: National co-ordination of services
Lecture and seminar 7: Childcare Partnerships
Lecture and seminar 8: Training and qualifications for early childhood practitioners
Lecture and seminar 9: Inequality in early childhood services
Lecture and seminar 10: Assessment of provision
