On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Analyse and critically evaluate the key drivers influencing globalisation.
2. Analyse and evaluate how globalisation directly affects industries and markets across the world. Use Refinitive software system to assist in understanding global business and supply chain systems.
3. Identify and evaluate the development and management of the logistics systems and supply chain functions in companies.
4. Critically evaluate the logistics and transportation systems involved in globally driven supply networks and critically analyse the decisions surrounding the use of multi-modal logstics systems.
5. Analyse financial agreements within supply chain management systems and critically analyse the issues surrounding tarrifs, taxes and payment methods in complex supply chains.
The aim of this module is to identify the key drivers and issues that are driving globalisation of industries and markets and, to further explore the main activities, structures and management of global and international logistics systems and supply networks. Students will use Refinitive software to collect and analyse business data from the global business environment to ensure sound strategic supply chain decision making.
Multi-model logistics systems, their structure and methods of operation; Problems with global and international logistics; International physical distribution strategy and management; Modal choice: Vehicle selection in logistics, shipping strategies, stockholding and inventory management, warehousing and depot management.
Formal tools and techniques used in developing logistics strategy; Building scenarios and modelling, management of goods, financial agreements within supply chain management systems, tariffs, taxes and payment methods in complex supply chains.
Ordering and replenishment systems; Reverse logistics.
Collecting and analysing data using Refinitive software system to provide sound strategic decisions around global supply chains

|Problem solving||The module demands the participants to apply analytical skills to reason and understand the challenging nature SCM. By introducing a variety of theoretical as well as empirical topics, the module enables students to develop creative thinking approaches to problem solving and to critically evaluate potential solutions to complex and challenging problems. These skills will have to be applied in seminar discussions, preparation of the written assessment. Supply Chain management tools and techniques will be applied to business situations.|
|Research skills||The module demands the participants to apply analytical skills to reason and understand the challenging nature of Supply Chain systems and apply specific tools and techniques to given situations. By introducing a variety of theoretical as well as empirical topics, the module enables students to develop creative thinking approaches to SCM based problem solving. These skills will have to be applied in seminar discussions, preparation of the coursework and timed assessment .|
|Subject Specific Skills||This module develops students’ understanding and appreciation of environmental economic theories and how these can be applied to address global SCM issues.|
|Team work||Students will need to show their ability to work as a team especially in the early stages of the project and in providing a solution to the issues highlighted.|
