Wedi cwblhau'r modiwl dylai'r myfyrwyr fedru:

  1. Demonstrate an effective knowledge and understanding of key theoretical principles surrounding special educational needs.
  2. Critically review and discuss the concepts, arguments and principles surrounding special educational needs
  3. Critically examine legislation and practices in relation to special educational needs.
  4. Critically evaluate and assess provisions available for pupils with SEN.
  5. Demonstrate critical engagement with relevant source material.

Disgrifiad cryno

This module will explore the theoretical, ethical and policy bases of special educational needs. It will examine special educational needs before addressing some issues that practitioners face. Provision for special educational needs pupils at national, local and school levels will be discussed.

Cynnwys

Lectures and seminars will be based on the following:
Understanding key terminology
Models of disability
Current legislation
Code of practice
Integration and inclusion
Meeting varied needs- autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, ADHD and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Cyfathrebu Communication techniques are a vital element throughout lectures and seminars. Spoken communication throughout seminar activities. Written communication throughout written assessments.

Gwaith Tim Seminar activities provide many opportunities for team work, including group presentations and debates.

Sgiliau ymchwil Research is required for the main assessments and some of the seminar tasks.
Technoleg Gwybodaeth Written assignments should be word-processed and one of the seminar tasks requires the development of a PowerPoint presentation.
