Asesiad Semester Assignment 1 - Portfolio: will contain three sections:i) Analysis and reflection on policy context, exam requirements and relevant research of literacy related to their subject area / field; (1600 words)ii) analysis of an example of own students’ work for development and employability purposes; (1000 words)iii) reflection on and identification of own development needs. Asesiad Ailsefyll Assignment 1 - Portfolio: All failed elements of the assessment must be re-taken. This will require the re-submission of selected sections of the portfolio, having addressed issues raised in the feedback process. 4000 Words 100%

Wedi cwblhau'r modiwl dylai'r myfyrwyr fedru:

  1. Examine and critically analyse the policy and strategy requirements for the application of literacy within their context.
  2. Critically analyse and develop suitable methods and strategies to teach and support the development of a variety of literacies within their own contexts.
  3. Apply knowledge of the development of literacies to the support and enhancement of student achievement and employability, justifying their decisions.

Disgrifiad cryno

This module will give you the opportunity to consider the impact of a broad perspective on literacies in the context of the teaching practitioner. You will consider the effect of developing literacy skills on student achievement, and evaluate methods of developing those skills in order to prepare students more effectively for the workplace. Policy and strategy guidance will be considered and you will analyse the impact of these in your own teaching context as well as the requirements for examination and qualification of students. You will be given opportunities to analyse students’ work as well as your own developmental needs and will consider the impact of relevant research on your own practice.

Each unit will comprise of two hours combination of lectures and seminars.

Unit 3 – Writing – for learning and for employment.
Unit 4 – Policy, strategy and curricular guidance
Unit 5 - Key developmental continuums
Unit 6 - Planning and integrating literacies
Unit 7 - Teaching literacies – strategies
Unit 8 - Best practice and research led practice
Unit 9 – Consideration of developmental difficulties
Unit 10 - Literacy development in adults

Cyfathrebu This will be developed both in seminar discussions and in preparation for the assessments.
Datblygu personol a chynllunio gyrfa Reflection activities during seminars will be used to encourage personal development. The reflection on and identification of own development needs will be assessed.
Datrys Problemau Students will consider how to address specific issues within their own contexts and practice, and develop the skills to address this in the future.
Gwaith Tim Seminar activities will involve group work.
Gwella dysgu a pherfformiad ei hun This will be a core skill developed within the module, with a clear emphasis on self-evaluation, where the students will be expected to consider impact on their own practice.
Rhifedd Statistical reports may be considered and data to support arguments may be analysed.

Sgiliau ymchwil This will be developed throughout the module but particularly in regards to the research necessary in the assessments.
Technoleg Gwybodaeth All assignments will be word processes and students will be required to utilize IT resources in the research of their assignments.
