On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
Appraise the challenges facing nursing in the 21st Century and behave and practice in a professional manner at all times, critically reflecting on own personal and professional development
Critically explore and demonstrate in practice the ability to use appropriate communications, teaching and learning skills
Critically analyse and demonstrate in practice an understanding of the requirements of legislation, guidelines, codes of practice and policies relevant to the practice of nursing
Demonstrate in practice the ability to function effectively in a team, and participate in a multi-professional approach to the care of patients and clients, identifying issues surrounding the multi-disciplinary nature of care.
Reflect on own ability to identify and assess need, design and implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes in all relevant areas of practice, including the effective delivery of appropriate emergency
Critically analyse the influence of health and social policy relevant to the practice of nursing
Critically appraise the current structure and organisation of care, nationally and locally and its ability to facilitate effective implementation strategy
Utilise relevant literature and research to inform the practice of nursing
Critically analyse and identify strengths and weaknesses, acknowledge limitations of proficiency and recognise the importance of maintaining and developing professional competence
This module will enable experienced nurses to regain confidence and update their skills and knowledge in a safe and effective way. The curriculum is contemporary and will enable nurses to update their numeracy, literacy, digital and technological literacy skills. APeL/RPL will be used to assess student's prior learning and experience in relation to meeting the standards of proficiency, NMC programme outcomes and facilitate students intended scope of practice upon readmission. Both theoretical module and the practice placement module will be introduced at the same time at the beginning of the programme as core requisites for re-registration to the NMC register following successful completion of the programme.
The aims of this module will allow students to have the required academic underpinning theoretical knowledge, working alongside their practice placement module, to work towards safely and competently re-registering on the Nursing & Midwifery Council Register.

|Professional development and assessment of strengths and barriers. Students will be required to demonstrate their learnt knowledge, whilst continuing to develop their problem-solving skills in real time environments. Students are required to be adaptive, creative and innovative in their everyday practice. Clinical areas can be challenging and students will be exposed to difficult healthcare situations.
|Creative Problem Solving
|Professional practice problem solving and leadership skills are integral to this module. Students will be exposed to clinical practice and will be required to participate in the delivery of patient care under direct supervision from clinical colleagues.
|Critical and analytical thinking
|This level 6 module will encourage students to enhance their critical thinking and problem solving in preparation for a return to nursing practice

This module will require the students to continue to use/and learn how to: • use blackboard/My Progress • upload entries onto their Professional Assessment Document [R-PAD] • submit work electronically • sit online examinations • use electronic platforms utilised in the clinical environment
|Professional development and communication are integral to the module. This module will consolidate the student’s understanding and appreciation of professional communication through exposure and participation in their practice placement. Students will further develop their professional communication skills by giving and receiving handover, writing in patients records and clinical charts, presenting information at ward rounds, communicating with patients, families and MDT.
|Reflective thinking and clinical appraisal are integral to this module. During this module, students will be exposed to ‘reflection in action’, which will see them developing their practice-based skills through clinical exposure and participation. Students will also further develop their ‘reflection on action’ skills by completing a reflective essay pertaining to their period in clinical practice.
