Asesiad Semester Poster: Conference type of poster representing approximately 20 hours of individual work. 40%
Asesiad Semester Survey Paper: A group survey paper of approximately 8,000 words. 60%
Asesiad Ailsefyll Survey Paper: A survey paper of approximately 2,500 words. Resubmission of failed/non-submitted individual part of the group survey paper with a justification of its relevance to the group topic and aims. 60%

Wedi cwblhau'r modiwl dylai'r myfyrwyr fedru:

  1. identify and use the main research resources that are available to software engineers
  2. constructively participate in advanced technical debate in the field.
  3. have a general overview of computing research and be aware of focused areas of research interest within it.
  4. present current research at an appropriate level of detail to a technical audience.
  5. produce a literature review (survey paper) on some current area of research.
  6. work within a team, identifying individual strengths and weaknesses and allocating work accordingly to meet the team’s objectives.

This module focuses on current issues in computing research. The module will involve students working as a team in an examination of current research literature of interest to masters students in Computer Science. Significant emphasis is placed on student discussion and peer review.

This module focuses on current issues in the field of computing research. The module will involve students working as a team in an examination of current research literature of interest to masters students in Computer Science.

Cynnwys

The content will vary from year to year, but will be based on a selection of current and relevant literature from academic articles, the web and other sources. Examples include: search engines, semantic webs, data mining, peer-to-peer distribution, GRID, OMG Model Driven Architecture, mobile agents etc.

Students work together as a team to write a survey-style paper that necessitates an extensive literature and web search. They present their papers to their peers, where other students are required to prepare and ask relevant questions.

Students participate in a conference organized by the Department of Computer Science where they present posters to peers and staff. The aim is to simulate a real academic poster presentation, in which they present proposed work.
