Wedi cwblhau'r modiwl dylai'r myfyrwyr fedru:

Develop knowledge and understanding to work effectively as an early years’ practitioner.
Critically discuss pedagogical approaches and methods of working with young children.
Understand and evaluate the main principles underpinning early years leadership and partnership working.
Explain the role of reflective practice in EY contexts and evaluate appropriate research models of reflective practice.
Develop an understanding of the impact of the Welsh language and culture on early years settings and the workforce.

Disgrifiad cryno

This module begins to develop students’ professional and practical skills to work as effective practitioners within the early years. Students will acquire knowledge of the key concepts that are central to working with young children, including an exploration of the principles of partnership working, an introduction to the theoretical approaches to leadership and consideration of different pedagogical approaches to working with young children.

A core element of the module will be the development of reflective practice and students will begin to develop their critical reflection skills. Students will critically examine research methods and ethical positions surrounding working with children. The module emphasises the importance of the impact of the Welsh language and culture on the early years' workplace. To aid reflective practice, students will undertake a 50 hour placement in an early years’ setting as part of this module.

Cynnwys

Workshop and seminar content will be centred on the following themes:
Roles, responsibilities and accountability in the early years' workplace
Reflective practice
Research methods and ethics
Approaches and methods for working with young children
Creating a learning environment
Partnership working
Welsh language and culture in the workplace
Theoretical approaches to leadership and management
The last two weeks will be a placement in an early years’ setting.

Myfyrdod	Improving Learning and Performance: Students will explore the importance of reflecting on their skills and using feedback to improve.
Sgiliau Pwnc-benodol	Reflective practice will be a key aspect of the module, given the importance of this in practise.
