Work in the Film & Teleision Industries aims to introduce you to the requirements and considerations facing graduates about to enter the media and creative industries, in order to help you bridge the gap between education and post-graduation employment. It helps you to develop greater awareness and first-hand experience of the industries in which you hope to work, as well as enabling you to develop strategies to plan your entry path into those careers. It equips you with the tools necessary to market specific media projects relevant to your specialism and chosen career path, enhances your awareness of business start-up and employment market issues, and seeks to develop your professional 'deportment' and employability.

You will be required to build on your existing knowledge of the creative industries acquired in other modules in order to understand and evaluate the economic, social and cultural challenges facing these industries.

Cynnwys

This module is taught through a series of weekly, skills-focused lecture-workshops, introducing you to specific career options and the challenges facing graduates about to enter the media and creative industries. Each week you will learn how to develop your professional portfolio, from essential employability skills to more creative approaches for presenting yourself and your work.

• Teamworking and Professional Development

• Researching and Engaging with Potential Employers and Clients

• Sustainability in the Film & TV Industries

• Using Social Media for Network Building

• Thinking About Independent and Freelance Opportunities

Sgiliau Modiwl

Math o Sgiliau	Manylion Sgiliau
Cyfathrebu	Communication skills - oral and written - will be developed in the module through written assignments and workshop tasks. Students will also develop communication skills in terms of approaching and engaging with employers and clients.
Datblygu personol a chynllunio gyrfa	This forms a central part of this module and is developed both through the teaching sessions and in preparation for the placement itself. The skill is assessed via the professional portfolio.
Datrys Problemau	Students will be required to develop their problem-solving skills in relation to assessing industry challenges in terms of their own employability. This will be assessed through the professional portfolio and related critical documentation.
Gwaith Tim	Students will often work on collective tasks in small groups during workshops. This will not be directly assessed.
Gwella dysgu a pherfformiad ei hun	There will be a continual dialogue throughout the module and students will also receive feedback on their professional portfolio which will help them improve their learning and performance.
Sgiliau pwnc penodol	The module develops specific skills in production research which will be applicable to a range of media industries.
Sgiliau ymchwil	These skills will be developed throughout the module and form a key part of the work that will be undertaken by students. The skills will be assessed through the professional portfolio and research portfolio.
Technoleg Gwybodaeth	This is not developed explicitly, but students are expected to engage with a range of IT tools as part of the module in terms of research for the module and for the placement.
