Canlyniadau Dysgu
Wedi cwblhau'r modiwl dylai'r myfyrwyr fedru:
- 1. explain the notions of local and convected rates of change; 2. calculate the vorticity of an ideal fluid flow; 3. evaluate the incompressibility condition for a given velocity field; 4. apply and solve the equations governing the flow of an ideal fluid in specific situations;
Disgrifiad cryno
This module introduces and develops the basic concepts of Classical Hydrodynamics and provides a framework for a modern appreciation of Fluid Mechanics.
Nod
To provide the basic framework for a modern appreciation of Fluid Dynamics. To introduce the basic concepts of Classical Hydrodynamics. To explain how mathematical modelling of fluid motion can help in the understanding of certain real world phenomena in applications such as meteorology and aerodynamics.
Cynnwys
1. Basic concepts: Velocity, acceleration, pressure, density.
2. Review of vector calculus and coordinate systems.
3. Eulerian and Lagrangian reference systems.
4. Kinematics of fluid motion: Pathlines, streamlines, vorticity.
5. Basic equations governing fluid motion.
6. Applications of Bernoulli's equation.
7. Irrotational flow.
8. Incompressibility, Potential flow.
9. Simple hydrodynamic structures: Sources, sinks, doublets.
