Disgrifiad cryno

This module constitutes the ‘dissertation’ component of the MA in Creative Writing programme. It offers participants the opportunity to build on the work undertaken during Writer as Practitioner 1 by allowing them to develop an independent creative piece of substantial length during semester 3. It is intended to draw together the skills and approaches discussed during workshop and group sessions throughout the year, and to put these into practice in a final portfolio of work. Students will receive individual supervision during the term to support their progress and to discuss formative feedback.

Cynnwys

This is an independent creative project aimed at allowing students to develop and bring to fruition a long piece of work. Each student will decide the form, content and approach of their work – in discussion with their supervisor and based on workshop feedback – and will be encouraged to build on ideas and techniques explored throughout the taught elements of the programme.

Cyfathrebu	Written communication skills are key to the work students will do on this module. Moreover, interaction and engagement with one-to-one supervision will be essential for successful completion of this writing and research project.

Datrys Problemau	Creative problem solving will be an integral part of tutorials. The effectiveness by which the student has solved problems is evident in the planning of and quality of the finished work.
Gwaith Tim	Students will be expected to respond in constructive ways to one-to-one supervision. Informally, students may take the opportunity to continue engaging with their peers but opportunities for peer support will be student-led.

They will improve their approach to writing and research, developing their own performance in response to their own and their tutor’s assessments of their progress.

Sgiliau ymchwil	The assessment on this module will reflect the student’s ability to read widely and to engage with literature with a critical eye as well as construct effective narratives of their own. They will have to apply this knowledge to make informed decisions about their own approaches to writing.
