Wedi cwblhau'r modiwl dylai'r myfyrwyr fedru:
- Differentiate between major stylistic levels of German. Recognise and understand different linguistic registers.
- Communicate with confidence on a variety of subjects related to their field(s) of interest, synthesising and evaluating information and arguments from a number of sources, conveying detailed information and arguments reliably.
- Translate selected passages into and outof German, showing idiomatic, authentic style and grammatical usage, though with some awkwardness.
- Present independently prepared material in spoken or written German. Interpret, describe and present reliably detailed information.
- Discuss and debate topical issues in German,contributing, accounting for and sustaining their opinion, evaluating alternative proposals andmaking and responding to hypotheses.
- Summarise selected pieces of written or spoken German,relaying the main points and synthesizing opinions, arguments and discussions.
- Expressmultifaceted insights into contemporary German'speaking life and culture.
- Initiate conversation in Germanwith confidence and participate in sustained and reasonably complex social exchanges. Participate actively in formal and informal discussions, accounting for and sustaining theiropinions and providing relevant explanations, arguments and comments.
- Demonstrate proficiency in German grammar and syntax, appropriate to level B1+/B2 of the CEFR.
Disgrifiad cryno
An intermediate level course in German language and culture. It will cover material from level B1-B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Successful
students will achieve Common Reference Level B1+/B2 (Independent User) by the end of the module.
Nod
The aim of this module is to consolidate students' knowledge of German grammar and vocabulary, enabling them to become independent users of the language. At the end of this module successful students will be prepared for advanced-level German language courses and to successfully complete the Year Abroad.
Cynnwys
Students will cover material appropriate to levels B1 / B2 of the CEFR. This will include developing translation, writing, oral and listening skills. Material covered will help students increase
and refine their knowledge and understanding of the target language and culture. Class content will familiarise students with contemporary issues, tendencies and debates in their language of study. Students will work towards being able to synthesize their knowledge of relevant social and cultural themes while developing their analytical skills and advancing their spoken and written expression across a variety of registers. Students will also have the opportunity to practice and progress essential language skills that will help prepare them for the Year Abroad.
