Asesiad Semester Group Case Study Poster: - In assigned groups of 2-3, students will complete a case study; the process of identifying and writing a case study will be modelled in seminars. 1600 Words 40%
Asesiad Semester Recorded Presentation and supporting documentation: - Students will choose from pre-set questions and record a presentation 10 minutes in length (a minimum of 9, and maximum of 11 minutes). Students will also be required to produce an accurate transcript of the presentation, and include a reference list of works cited. The skills of recording a presentation through PowerPoint and transcribing recordings will be developed in seminars. 60%

  2. Evaluate and engage critically with different perspectives on gender and sex/sexuality, in various areas of social life
  3. Carry out analysis of current events and/or popular media , with reference to appropriate sociological theory and concepts of gender and sexuality

‘Genders and Sexualities’ introduces students to contemporary controversies and key historical debates in the sociology of gender. The module takes an intersectional approach, arguing that genders and sexualities intersect with other social dimensions such as ‘race’/ ethnicity, class and age. Students will learn how to think critically about gender and sexuality in relation to social institutions, culture and identity.

Possible topics covered in the module include (but are not limited too) :
- feminism and feminist theories
- gender and sexuality in the workplace
- masculinities and femininities
- fatherhood, motherhood, and parenting
- looking beyond the binary: trans and nonbinary lives
- gender, sexuality, and digital lives
- embodied gender
