Disgrifiad cryno

This module involves researching and presenting the MA dissertation, a piece of independent research of up to 15,000 words, supervised by a designated member of staff.

Cynnwys

The dissertation is an opportunity for students to research and present a piece of independent research on contemporary, historical, linguistic, or theoretic aspects of Welsh and Celtic Studies. Students will develop their project, appropriate research questions, and a work program with a member of staff with expertise in their chosen area.

This module will include 4 x 1 hour sessions in research training: good research practice, identifying and using primary and secondary sources, time management, writing and structuring a dissertation. Our Subject Librarian will contribute to one of these hourly sessions and will also be available to support students in the planning and research of their dissertations.

After identifying a suitable research topic in collaboration with a supervisor, students will have regular, fortnightly meetings with their supervisor. Students will also be required to attend Research Seminars in the Department throughout the academic year.
