Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Explain the concept of equity and its relevance to the trust;
2. Explain the legal rules governing the establishment and management of trusts;
3. Analyse and evaluate property transactions and trust concepts;
4. Analyse factual scenarios relating to equity and trusts, and apply the relevant principles of law to those scenarios;
5. Solve complex legal problems by applying the principles of equity and trusts;
6. Be able to communicate results (orally and in writing) concisely and effectively at an academic level in English and / or Welsh using the relevant legal terminology correctly.

Brief description
This module introduces to students to the concept of "equity" and the law of trusts and provides a firm grounding in the relevant rules and principles. Students will learn to assess critically the place of equity and trusts in the financial and fiscal arrangements of private citizens, and of commerce in general, and to apply that knowledge appropriately in a range of scenarios.
The course will build upon and develop the students' broader skills, including effective communication and independent research and study.
A key aim of this module is to provide students with one of the seven foundations of legal knowledge that is required by those seeking to enter the legal professions.
