Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

Differentiate between the different technologies and be able to discuss which method is most appropriate for tackling a particular study.

Conceptualize how these technologies may be applied to livestock production

Describe how to apply these technologies to studying and gaining insight into a specific genetic abnormality.

Brief description

The module will consider the application of molecular genetics to livestock production. It will give students an understanding of the methodologies applied in molecular genetics and related disciplines (eg proteomics, metabolomics, etc) and to allow them to conceptualize and apply them to livestock production.
