Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

Use your knowledge of underpinning health, sport or Exercise (where relevant) to solve a client based problem

Assess, evaluate, and prescribe an intervention to meet a client’s need enhance health, fitness or performance

Demonstrate the practical skills and techniques required to monitor and evaluate participants in a health or performance context

Demonstrate and awareness of health and safety, risk assessment and ethical considerations

Communicate information in both written and oral formats to both specialist and non-specialist audiences

Brief description

Based on the knowledge and skills developed during the degree, the final semester is to combine these into a particular scenario. You will demonstrate your client interaction skills, ensure valid and reliable data collection, use appropriate processing techniques, which will all lead to the interpretation of the data. Ultimately, you will produce reports that your client will be able to use for their benefits. These clients will comprise two types: When working with individuals, and when working within larger organisations. The individual is akin to being a performance analyst, a physiologist, nutritionist, psychologist, working in elite sports or in health services. The larger organisation is akin to working for government organisations, councils, charities, public bodies, as a consultant. Using these scenarios, this module prepares you for your career, which can range from sports, exercise, health and beyond.

• Addressing societal issues
• Developing evidence based solutions
• Identifying appropriate assessment protocols that are valid, and reliable
• Conducting the Practical Skills Assessment and presenting the report.

Digital capability Using equipment as part of the Practical Skills Assessment, as well as generating the report using Excel for data analysis
Professional communication Produce a report suitable for the client, who is a member of the general public. The consultancy report is aimed at a larger organization.
Real world sense Both pieces of coursework are set around likely activities in a career: assessing people, and producing reports (in particular when working for larger organizations).
Reflection Practice during practicals to ensure the skills are fluent and stable during a higher pressure environment: the assessment.
