Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of what is `documentary? and what it can be.
2. Analyse and evaluate their own work within a critical context.
3. Demonstrate the practical and technical skills to produce a short-form documentary film of a professional standard.
4. Demonstrate being able to integrate conceptual research skills with practical production processes.

Aims

What is documentary and what can it be? This module brings together the accumulation of all the learning outcomes from the previous modules of this MA course. Students will be required to make a 15 ? 20 minute documentary production with the intention of disseminating the work in international film festivals and competitions.

Students will be encouraged to evolve their own idiom as documentary film makers in this project and analyze their work within a critical context in the accompanying critical reflection.

Brief description


This module will be initiated and developed as part of Research Practices TFM2320 in which students will carry out research and evolve proposal documents for their dissertation project with one-to-one tutorial supervision.
This module will be taught through supervision tutorials.

Content

Project research and development;
2 x 1 hour tutorial

Pre-production planning and management
1 hour tutorial

Edit - footage and rough assembly
1 hour tutorial

Edit - rough cut stage
