Ar ôl cwblhau PhD mewn Roboteg Deallus ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth enillodd Joanne gyllid gan yr EPSRC i fod yn Gyd-Archwilydd i weithio fel Cynorthwyydd Ymchwil ar brosiect dilynol i'w PhD. Yn dilyn y swydd ymchwil gweithiodd Joanne i'w chwmnïau ei hun - busnes e-fasnach a chwmni Cyfathrebu a Dylunio Rhyngrwyd - mae hi'n dal i fod yn Gyfarwyddwr ar y cwmnïau hyn ac yn gysylltiedig âu gwaith ond nid yw'n rhan o'u rhedeg o ddydd i ddydd. Mae Joanne wedi bod yn gweithio yn y Swyddfa Ymchwil ers mis Mai 2011.
