Profile

Matthew Peake is a linguist and language educator with expertise in French, Spanish, bilingualism, and English language teaching. He holds a BA (Hons) in French and Spanish from the University of Kent and an MA in Bilingualism from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David as well as a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) from the University of East London. 

He has taught across a range of contexts, including ESOL and beginners’ French at the Mary Ward Centre in London, French language courses within the Lifelong Learning Department at Aberystwyth University, and both GCSE French and Introduction to Spanish-Speaking at Cardiff and Vale College. Alongside his teaching, he continues to develop his own linguistic knowledge and is currently learning Welsh.

Matthew Peake has worked across a range of educational settings since 2018, holding both academic and administrative roles. His interests include Further, Higher, and Adult Education, language learning and teaching, linguistics, bilingualism and multilingualism, ESOL, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), academic and study skills development, widening participation, and the study of remote metropolitan branch campuses (RMBC).
