Mae ymchwil Lucy yn archwilio sut mae llenyddiaeth y ddeunawfed a'r bedwaredd ar bymtheg ganrif yn cofnodi ac yn siapio arferion goruchwylio, gyda chanolbwynt penodol ar rywedd, anabledd, a'r corff. Mae ei gwaith yn archwilio sut mae ffurfiau sefydliadol, cymunedol, ac agos o fonitro yn strwythuro bywyd cymdeithasol a mynegiant diwylliannol yn ystod y cyfnod Rhamantaidd, a sut mae testunau llenyddol yn ail-ddyfnhau ac yn gwrthsefyll rheolau gwelededd a rheolaeth. Mae ei hymchwil yn datblygu'r canolbwynt hwn drwy Astudiaethau Anabledd Beirniadol, gan olrhain sut mae llenyddiaeth yn ymgysylltu â syniadau cymhleth sy'n newid am nam, dibyniaeth, a gofal. Mae hi hefyd wedi cyhoeddi ar Jane Austen a Maria Edgeworth, gan ddadansoddi sut mae arsylwi gan gyd-fforymwyr - sgyrsiau bach, dybiaethau, ac arolygu cymdeithasol - yn gweithio fel ffurf o reolaeth ryweddol yn y ffuglen ddechrau'r bedwaredd ar bymtheg ganrif.
